This advanced reading workshop is designed to prepare high school students for the rigorous reading and literary analysis in high school. Students will analyze a variety of different types of texts from classic literature to poetry and prose. The rigorous analysis done in this course is designed to prepare them for AP level classes. In this class, our renowned teacher Dr. Lynch will introduce students to dystopian literature. We will read the classic book Fahrenheit 451 and the bestseller Station Elven in the class, and we will also introduce supplementary reading such as Dry and make it more relevant to today’s society. About the Instructor: Dr Lynch has been a full-time English Language Arts teacher at the high school level for more than 26 years. She is also an advisor for school newspaper and yearbook for her high school. As a avid writer, she has also published several articles in magazines such as Youth and Tech as well as a college text book on radio broadcasting.
